The Little Farm- Pumpkin Patch 1

Miami Lakes Church- Pumpkin Patch 2

Metro Zoo also has a couple of events going on but the one that caught my attention was ..

Spooky Zoo Nights- Metro Boo

The Miami sequarium gets into the Halloween Spirit too!

Monster Splash- Sequarium

Miracle Mile has trick or treating- October 31, 2010 from 3-6 pm
Downtown Coral Gables invites kids of all ages to enjoy safe Halloween festivities on Miracle Mile. Enjoy trick or treating at area stores, a scavenger hunt and a costume contest at the Miracle Theater. Free admission.
Along Miracle Mile in Coral Gables, 305-569-0311. http://gomiami.about.com/gi/o.htm?zi=1/XJ&zTi=1&sdn=gomiami&cdn=travel&tm=1276&gps=313_163_1436_701&f=20&su=p531.51.336.ip_&tt=2&bt=1&bts=0&zu=http%3A//www.shopcoralgables.com/

If you want to stay in with your sugar there's also a bunch of things to do!

Pumpkin Carving! One of my fave :) You can use the usual stencils from the kits, or you can get creative and let your mind take you anywhere OR... you can go to this super cool website http://www.zombiepumpkins.com/ There not free there because there so amazing but this is what you can do to make them free... get your self some tracing paper and simply save the one you wanna do, zoom on your comp to the size you want on your pumpkin & trace it. Use that as a stencil.

Bake! Another fave of mine. Whether you have a boy or girl, little ones love doing this stuff. Here are some easy ideas.

Do-it-yourself pumpkin magnets- buy some of those magnet sheets and get some construction paper. Use orange to make the pumpkins and the rest to make eyes, noses, mouths, hats, freckles, anything. Stick on some magnets and let them have fun creating different faces on the pumpkins on the fridge. I havent done this one yet but I read it on the Disney Family Mag & loved it. Ill prob do it 2day.

Enjoy guys & have a wonderful October <3  -Dee

Glitter Pumpkins & a Ghoulish Weekend

Had such a fun low key weekend at home with my son & nephews that I felt like sharing. We did pumpkins, a Halloween cookie house, S'mores, a cake, spooky movies, & more =) I finally did the glitter pumpkins id been dying to do!

Last but not least, my beautiful pumpkins that every loves!

They were so simple and so amazingly cute! Best Part is, the orange ones you can keep all through thankgiving for decoration. I didnt put a tutorial cause it doesnt take a genius to figure out how to make em.. but here are some quick tips on how to make..

this is all you'll need. Pumpkins, white glue ( which dries clear) and glitter colors of choice. All you have to do is brush on a THIN layer of glue to the pumpkins and throw on the glitter & let dry! I also painted the stems with brown acrylic paint but you dont have to. Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend ;)

Autumn Apples

::sighs:: Autumn... the time where the days are shorter, the nights are longer, & I always seem to want to dye my hair red lol. This season makes me sooo happy. I already feel the yummy breeze & its not as boiling outside in our miami weather. As you can tell Julian & I have already started some halloween projects and now since it's closer to october we'll only have many more to share with you =) Here are some caramel apples I made saturday for a dinner potluck Hugo, Julian, & I went to. Here's what you'll need...

1. 6 mini apples or 4 big ones
2. 1 bag of Kraft Caramels candy ( traditional)
3. popsicle sticks
4. pot
5. 2 tablespoons of water
6.Tray
7.Wax paper

Remove the candies from their wrapper and melt on medium/LOW, add water.
Stir constantly. Meanwhile insert sticks into apple stems.
When caramels are completly melted, dip each apple evenly so its fully coated & place on *Greased* waxpaper ( I put the wax paper in the tray) Refrigerate for an hour or until ready to serve.
When I was done, I threw in some sweet crunchy peanuts & corn for a more Autumn-y festive look =)
Nothing says welcome AUTUMN an adorable tray of caramel apples!

Frozen Pineapple Pie *EASY*

This is by far one of my best easy to make desserts and everyone loves it!
Here's what you'll need:

1 9 oz graham pie crust ( or 2 small ones)
1 8 oz tube of cool whip
1 can of condensed milk
1 large can of crushed pineapple
 pinch of lime

Drain Juice from pineapple

Mix in cool whip, condensed milk, a little pinch of lime

Pour in crust and freeze over night or about 8-9 hours.

Serve!
This can also be done with other fruits. Ive tried strawberries & cherries but to me, the pineapple is still the best!
Enjoy! -Dee

Nationality

Im embarrassed to say that I have never visited my parents country's. Well I did once but I was only 2 years old. My mother is Cuban & My father is Colombian. I am however happy to say that I plan on taking Julian to Colombia for his 4rth bday! I always spend a fourtune on parties so I figured we'd do something different since his bday is smack in the middle in the heat of the summer so Colombia here we come! Cuba will be next on my agenda =) Just because we havent visited doesnt mean we dont represent!

Easy Spooky Jello Treat

Saw this on my family fun mag & had to share. Was so easy to make and my kids loved it!

Its so easy to make its not even funny. Would be a big hit at a kids or maybe even adult halloween party ( by adding the right vodka) ;)
All you need is 2 packs of Jello and one pack of gummy worms. Make the first color of choice pour half a cup and let it cool in the fridge for about 10 mins then throw in some worms. Let jello harden ( about 4 hours)
Make the second pack and let cool, add worms, let harden and voila! You got yourself a cute, fun, easy, spooky treat =P
My son, niece, & nephew really enjoyed eating it. I also added a little whipcream on top for fun just cuz they love it.  Hope you enjoy!

Not much to blog about today. Here are some more bracelets I made over the weekend.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

My treats are well known to make an entrance at parties & occassions. These especially. Im known to make chocolate covered goods. Marshmellows, cookies, pretzels, ricecrispies treats, bananas but here today were learning the art of strawberry dipping =P I know what your thinking... How hard can it possibly be?? Well, it's pretty easy but if you dont do it right they'll look sloppy, it can be messy or you can burn the chocolate when using those " microwavable chips". Lets start with the ingridients.

You will need:
Wax paper
Strawberries
Dipping Chocolate
Fondue Pot or small bowl pan
1/2 teaspoon cooking oil

First of all we clearly need to warm up the chocolate.
-If you have a fondue pot then it should be easy. Just turn it on, stick the chocolote in and voila!
-If your using a cooking pan, set the heat on low. Throw in your chips and stir occationally.
-When chocolate is melted, mix in the cooking oil to thin the chocolate a bit.
-Grab the straberry by its stem and hold the pot with other hand, dip strawberry while turning it to coat evenly & hold it over to let excess chocolate fall off.

Turn is upside down

Place on wax paper carefully. Wax paper is perfect because it will keep the chocolate from sticking.

Repeat for all.
Let dry for about an hour or until chocolate is firm. You can put them in the fridge to speed up the process, then serve!

I usually like to get creative with sprinkles, coconut flakes, powdered sugar, or drizzling white chocolate over but since these particular strawberries were kinda small I decided to simply dip them. Next time I'll show you more about dolling them up =) Till then
